2022 Masters Coach/Manager Application

Application Information

North Harbour Hockey Association are seeking expressions of interest for Team Management positions (Head Coach & Manager) across all our Men’s and Women’s Teams for the 2022 Masters Rep Campaign. Please see further information below:

COACH & MANAGER POSITIONS

Masters Men ( 35+ / 40+ / 45+ / 50+ / 55+ / 60+ / 65+ ) Masters Women     (35+ / 40+ / 45+ / 50+ / 55+ / 60+ ) *All positions are dependent on player numbers 

CLOSING DATE 

Expressions of Interest will be completed in two rounds if positions are not filled in round 1 Round 1 – Opens Friday 30th July and closes Monday 16th August Round 2 – Will open post appointment of Teams based on applications received in Round 1. Round 2 will only includes teams where appointments have not been made. 

TRIAL DATES 

Sunday 31st October (exact time TBC) Sunday 7th November (exact time TBC) 

2022 NATIONAL MASTERS TOURNAMENT 

Start: February 20th 2022 End: February 26th 2022 “New Zealand’s largest domestic hockey tournament” 

FINANCIAL SUPPORT 

An outright coach or manager (i.e. non-playing) will have accommodation costs covered A player-coach/manager will receive a 50% discount off accommodation costs 

COACH ROLE* 

– Organise and run training sessions

– Lead team through week of tournament

– Lead on field team strategy

– Conduct team talks (before and after games)

KEY COACHING SKILLS*

– Understand the game (skills, tactics & rules)

– Ability to teach hockey, develop people and facilitate team work

– Build meaningful relationships – Be an effective communicator

– Be a continuous learner – Be a leader

MANAGER ROLE*

– Responsible for team equipment and uniforms

– Liaise and work with NHHA/HNZ/Tournament Director/Match Director

– Communicate key messages to team members

– Gather team’s collective opinion

KEY MANAGER SKILLS*

– Be an effective communicator

– Highly organised

– Build meaningful relationships
