As you are aware, Masters trials have been pushed back from the original dates, and we need to re-establish your availability to trial on Sunday 28 November and Sunday 5 December. The NHHA is adhering to Government mandated guidelines as a vaccine required site in order to facilitate hockey competitions under the soon to be introduced traffic light system. This mandate applies to on-site competition, facilities & NHHA Rep Teams selected for National Tournament. As a result – if you are intending to trial for Masters, you must be fully vaccinated.
The NHHA, as a regional sports and licensed hospitality organisation is defined as a “Close Contact”, and “Hospitality” business.
The NHHA is advised that from 29 November 2021, all business such as ours will be mandated by law, to require anyone eligible to be vaccinated (currently 12-yrs+) who wish to enter the National Hockey Centre (NHC), to be fully vaccinated from Covid-19. According to this new legislation we anticipate the NHHA will be required to check the vaccination status of all persons prior to entering the NHC. This requirement will apply to all staff, coaches, umpires, players, volunteers and spectators.
The NHHA is likely to be required to retain this information for up to 60 days. Proof of vaccination will be retained with respect to confidentiality as applies to any personal information we may be required to keep. Vaccination status will be accessed on approval from the NHHA CEO by NHHA staff only as necessary to fulfil our obligations to provide a safe environment for all, as required by Government legislation.
Everyone has a choice to disclose their vaccination status. If you choose not to disclose your vaccination status by 9am Friday 26 November, we must assume you are unvaccinated.
The NHHA’s return to hockey plan is to commence training and competition from early December on the assumption we move to a Green or Orange (to be confirmed) traffic light status. Consequently, the NHHA is taking all necessary steps now to be compliant with anticipated legal mandates.
We appreciate these are extraordinary times. The NHHA team is doing its utmost to comply with anticipated government mandates and laws, and planning as best we can. But as we have all become accustomed, things may change quickly and un-expectantly.
Together we will be ready and able to deliver as safe an environment as possible, and welcome back our passionate Harbour Hockey Whanau – coaches, umpires, players, teams, supporters and volunteers.
PLEASE NOTE: As of 19 November 2021, no legal government mandate has been imposed. The Government is expected to pass laws by the end of November, requiring all businesses such as the NHHA to comply with the measures detailed under the Covid-19 Protection Framework. It is expected that according to the proposed new law, anyone eligible to be vaccinated, but not fully vaccinated will be unable to legally enter the premises of the NHC.
