Covid-19 Staff/Official Information

The North Harbour Hockey Association (NHHA), as a regional sports and licensed hospitality organisation is defined as a “Close Contact”, and “Hospitality” business.  

The NHHA is advised that from 29 November 2021, all business such as ours will be mandated via new laws to ensure all persons on the premises of the National Hockey Centre are vaccinated from Covid-19.  As employers, according to this new legislation we anticipate being required to maintain vaccination records for all staff (casual, contract, part time or permanent), and retain this information along with individual employment agreements.  This requirement we believe will also apply to all volunteers at the National Hockey Centre.  

These records will be retained according to standard requirements when collecting personal information, and subject to laws on confidentiality. Any vaccination records will only be accessed on approval from the CEO by NHHA Staff only as necessary to fulfil obligations as required by applicable Government legislation (when and if this is passed). 

Choice of Disclosure 

All staff or volunteers have a choice on whether to disclose their vaccination status, and accordingly do not have to complete this form. Those who choose not to disclose their vaccination status by 4pm Monday 29 November, will be assumed to be unvaccinated as per guidance provided by the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE). 

The NHHA has a return to hockey plan that we are hopeful may allow play in December assuming a move to a Traffic Light status that removes distancing requirements . The NHHA is taking all necessary steps to be compliant with rules, guidelines and anticipated legal mandates by this date.  

With your help and cooperation, the NHHA will be ready and able to deliver as safe an environment as possible, and welcome back our passionate Harbour Hockey whanau including all our dedicated coaches, umpires, players, teams, supporters and volunteers.  

PLEASE NOTE: As of 12 November 2021, no legal government mandate has been imposed. The Government is expected to pass laws that will require all businesses such as the NHHA to comply with the measures detailed under the Covid-19 Protection Framework, by the end of November. It is expected that according to the proposed new law, anyone not fully vaccinated will be unable to legally enter the premises of the National Hockey Centre. 

With an expected move to Green Light status under the Covid-19 Protection Framework on or about 29 November the team at Harbour Hockey look forward to welcoming everyone back to the Summer of Hockey!
