North Harbour Hockey Association (NHHA) is one of New Zealand’s largest hockey associations offering hockey and community services in a rapidly growing and diverse demographic. We are taking actions to change the ways we live, work, and achieve prosperity, with the aim of securing the long-term sustainability of our planet.
The board has four elected positions and three appointed board members. All board members work as volunteers to support administering hockey in a proud region.
NHHA’s innovative sustainable development programme has resulted in embedding sustainability within core business and winning multiple awards. The organisation is seeking a skilled sustainability professional to support the next phase of growth to ensure NHHA remains future fit, retaining its first mover status.
NHHA is seeking a collaborative, future-thinking sustainability professional who will bring sustainability expertise and governance experience with particular focus on increasing social equity, environmental health, financial and organizational resilience to support innovation, diversification and organizational growth.
Key focus areas are:
Leading sustainable organisational development to reflect our understanding of our socio-ecological impact and accelerate our transition to becoming a holistic, climate neutral sports organisation
Leading the sustainability board sub-committee team to support strategic objectives and assist management in successfully implementing sustainable KPIs.
Based on our skills matrix, as well as considering the challenges and opportunities ahead, the NHHA board is prioritising securing the following skills and attributes in addition to governance experience:
Strong commercial acumen to assist with broadening the revenue base and leverage existing sustainability initiatives that align with the Paris climate agreement
Skills in working with future stakeholder groups to ensure organisational resilience
Future thinking expertise
Expertise with identifying sustainability risks and opportunities
Expertise in collaborative action to reduce waste, travel lightly, manage shared energy and water, increase environmental justice and social equity and wellbeing
Generator of value creation opportunities that enable future competitive advantage
Cultural competency and commitment to developing and strengthening partnerships with mana whenua and other key stakeholders to positively influence long term growth in hockey and community service delivery
Aspirational and intergenerational thinker
Knowledge of global, national and regional systemic pressure impacting business growth
