North Harbour Hockey is devastated by the news that Harbour legend and Life Member, Andy Worrall (Woz / Wozza) has passed away.

Andy was a foundation North Shore / North Harbour player from junior grades and played 6 years in the U21s, where he represented NZ. He played over 200 games for the North Harbour Senior Men’s team, where he played in every North Harbour team that won promotion from the 4th division into the top tier of Men’s hockey in New Zealand at the time, Challenge Shield. He continued to represent Harbour on the field in Master’s hockey playing in various age group teams over the years and was selected for New Zealand Masters 45+ in 2013. He was a founding member of the ABC Hockey Club in 1989.

Wozza also contributed a significant amount to North Harbour in sports administration, serving in the following administrative roles over the years:

• Board – Chairperson 2002 – 2004

• Board Member 1993, 2005-2019

• Harbour Hockey Charitable Trust Chairperson 2003-2004

• Secondary Division Committee Chairperson 2000-2003

• Secondary Division Committee member 1999-2003

In 2020, Andy received a Hockey New Zealand Silver Service Award to acknowledge 20+ years of service to the hockey community. He was made a legend of Harbour Hockey at the 25-year celebrations in 2017 and was awarded Life Membership of North Harbour Hockey in 2021.

Our thoughts are with his wife Jo, and their children Ella, Oscar and Toby at this very sad time.

Harbour Hockey will be hosting a ‘Send-Off’ for Andy here at the National Hockey Centre on Friday, 14 November at 2pm. It will be streamed for those who can't make it, details to follow.
